In short: we collect the bare minimum needed to deliver your train seat alerts - such as a device identifier and, if you enable them, a push token or your e-mail address. We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for anything other than running the Service.
1. Data controller
The controller of data collected through the App and the website is the operator of Treni Alert. To exercise your rights or for any privacy request, write to support@trenialert.it.
2. What data we process
a) Data needed to run alerts
- Device identifier generated by the App: used to link your alerts to your device without requiring an account.
- Push notification token (if you allow notifications): required to send you alerts.
- E-mail address (if you choose e-mail alerts or join the waitlist on the website): used only to send you the communications you requested.
- Alerts you create (train, route, date, class and preferences): needed to monitor availability on your behalf.
b) Subscription data
- Your Premium subscription status and related dates, received via the subscription-management provider and the App Store. We do not process your payment card details: payments are handled entirely by Apple.
c) Technical and usage data
- Essential technical data (e.g. device type, app version, language, error logs) to keep the Service secure, diagnose issues and improve it.
- Advertising identifiers that may be processed by third-party ad networks in the free version (see section 6).
We do not ask for your name or other unnecessary identifying details. We do not collect your precise location.
3. Purposes and legal bases
- Providing the Service (creating alerts, sending notifications) - performance of a contract.
- Managing subscriptions - performance of a contract.
- Security, abuse prevention and improvement - legitimate interest.
- Advertising in the free version - consent, where required.
- Requested e-mail communications (alerts, waitlist) - consent / performance of a contract.
4. Source of train data
Information on timetables, availability and train status comes from publicly accessible sources and does not relate to you as an individual: it is not personal data. Treni Alert is an independent service and shares none of your personal data with railway operators (see Terms of Service).
5. Retention
We keep data for as long as needed for the purposes above: alerts while they remain active or until you delete them; subscription data for the duration of the subscription and to meet legal obligations; technical data for limited periods. When you delete the App or ask us to erase your data, we remove the data associated with your device, except where retention is required by law.
6. Third-party services
To run the Service we rely on providers that may process some data on our behalf or as independent controllers:
- Apple - app distribution, push notifications (APNs) and subscription payment processing.
- Subscription-management provider - verifying and syncing your Premium status.
- Ad network (free version) - serving ads; it may use advertising identifiers under its own policies.
- Hosting / e-mail provider - running our servers and sending e-mails.
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. Any transfers outside the EU are made with the safeguards required by the GDPR.
7. Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to: access your data, request its rectification or erasure, restrict or object to processing, obtain portability, and withdraw any consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
To exercise your rights, write to support@trenialert.it. You can also manage notification and tracking permissions directly in your device settings.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data (e.g. encrypted connections, restricted access). No system is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. For material changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Please review it periodically.
